We aim to make becoming a member of Advanced Drivers East Midlands easy and as relaxed as possible.
Usually, you will contact us by the website, through our phone number, or at one of the events we have attended. Our Secretary is normally the person to contact you to give you more information, and arrange the assessment drive.
The process for all new members begins with an assessment drive. In this, you go out with one of our Tutors for about 45 minutes to an hour. You will often get feedback in the moment, but you will definitely get a written assessment of what our Tutor noted about your driving, and some pointers of areas for improvement. We will talk with you about what you’re aiming to get from joining us and will give you membership information. At this point, some people will join up there and then, whilst some will go away to think about it. That’s fine as we don’t pressure you to join.
If you decide to join, you’ll complete a membership form, pay us the joining and membership fee which currently is set at £110. Subsequent years have a renewal cost which is £20.
Once you have joined, then you attend the training sessions which include a short theory session and the the drive afterwards. For details of what do you learn, please see the “What do I learn” page. When you are ready to take the advanced test, we’ll let you know, and help you apply for it
